A muscle car enthusiast was called out to check out an incredible three-barn Pontiac collection in Kansas and ended up leaving with a bit more than he bargained for.
The story started about four years ago, when Dave Hall from the Restore a Muscle Car YouTube channel was invited to look over a collection of more than 20 Pontiacs.
The collection was so big that the elderly owner spread it across three garages.
The collection included complete cars as well as various parts such as motors, wheels, tires, and more.

The elderly owner of the Pontiac collection was in poor health
Basically, the whole thing was quite the treasure trove and a testament to how much the owner loved cars.
One particular highlight of the collection for the owner was his 1973 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Super Duty.
Sadly, he could no longer drive the beloved vehicle due to poor health.
In fact, the car had been parked since 1978 – but was in pretty good condition, all things considered.
After Dave’s initial visit to the epic collection, the family contacted him again to ask for a valuation, as they planned to put the cars up for auction.
However, one car they refused to part with was the 4-speed 1973 Super Duty Trans Am because the family had special plans for that car.
Knowing that the owner’s health was declining, they reached out to a local mechanic to fix up the Trans Am so he could take it for one last spin before he passed away.
Fortunately, this plan came to fruition and the man did indeed get to take the classic car out one last time.
The muscle car got a second chance
A few years later, and with the owner now having passed, the family decided to sell the remaining cars and once again contacted Dave to see if he was interested.
As the car was in such great condition, Dave was more than happy to snap it up meaning the Trans Am will be enjoyed for years to come.
This isn’t the first touching story we’ve seen that happened to involve an old Pontiac.
There was the sweet ‘Cinderella story’ involving a son who surprised his dad with the very same GTO he’d sold decades before.
Let’s not forget the man who still drives his 1967 Pontiac GTO that he bought as a teen and has lovingly restored over the years.
