The new Porsche 911 GT3 is here with better aerodynamics and a manual gearbox

This is the new Porsche 911 GT3.

It is one of the most aerodynamically efficient cars in the world, and it still uses a naturally aspirated engine.

It is also a bit of a birthday present that Porsche wanted to give itself.

This is because 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the GT3 model.

The new model uses the same 4.0-liter flat-six as the old one because, well if it ain’t broke, why fix it?

It still produces 503 horsepower but more torque, 450 Nm, and the best part is that it isn’t turbocharged and it isn’t electrified.

It does 97km/h (60mph) in just 3.9 seconds with its manual gearbox and 3.4 seconds with automatic transmission.

The top speed is 313km/h (194mph).

More importantly, Porsche made it a lot more aerodynamically efficient.

It has a redesigned spoiler, new air scoops on the hood, and even the headlamps were redesigned to be more aerodynamic.

The biggest news is that you can now get a GT3 with two seats or, for the first time ever, four seats (2+2) with the GT3 Touring.

Breaking down the Porsche 911 line-up

Like so many other iconic cars, the GT3 was created as a high-performance homologation model for the equivalent race car.

Breaking down the complicated (and extensive) line-up of 911 cars isn’t easy but, generally speaking, the GT3 is at the top of the 911 hierarchy.

The GT3, even when we include the GT3 RS model, isn’t always the most powerful 911 available, but it is most track-focused.

The current-gen Porsche 911, the 992, comprises several Carrera models, including Targa, convertible, hybrid, and four-wheel drive variants.

Then there’s the Turbo model, which is the most powerful in its Turbo S variant, and then the GT3.

Even 25 years later, the GT3 is still perceived as the halo car when it comes to high-performance Porsche 911 variants.

And it’s easy to see why.
