There's a country in Europe where the Porsche 911 is the best-selling car

There’s a tiny country in Europe where the Porsche 911 is the best-selling car.

Not the best-selling car ‘in its category’ or the best-selling supercar – but the best-selling car in absolute terms.

This country is so small most people wouldn’t even find it on the map.

But there’s a very good reason behind this market anomaly.

Why the Porsche 911 is the best-selling car here

The Principality of Andorra is a European microstate located in the Pyrenees, right between France and Spain.

It is one of the smallest sovereign countries in the world, but it must be a great country to live in because people over there are apparently very wealthy.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) explains why Andorra is so wealthy and prosperous, and it mostly comes down to a very low tax rate and a flourishing banking industry.

Around 81,000 people reside in Andorra, and most of them evidently already owned a car last year, which explains why only 2,379 vehicles were registered in 2024.

Amazingly, three Porsche models occupy the top four.

The 911 was the best-selling vehicle with 83 units sold, followed by the Toyota GR Yaris, the Cayenne, and the Macan.

Andorra is one of several microstates in Europe

The two most famous microstates in Europe are the Vatican and Monaco, but there are plenty more.

And the list gets bigger if you include self-governing dependencies and territories like Gibraltar (which also has what some people call ‘the world’s weirdest airport’) and the Isle of Man.

Speaking of the Isle of Man, this is a particularly interesting place if you’re into cars, mainly because it is one of the few places in the world where there are no official speed limits.

To be clear, careless and dangerous driving laws still apply, and there are local speed limits in place.

But, broadly speaking, it’s a place where you can drive your car as fast as it can go.
