This man got around to adding supercar wheels to his 3D-printed Porsche 992 GT3 RS, and he was left stunned by the result.

YouTuber Mike Lake has been working on his project for a long while now, having started the project with a 986-generation Boxster.

He’d bought it for $13,000 and a set of scan files to merge the Boxster chassis with GT3 RS dimensions.

But now it was time for some supercar wheels to be added on.

What happened when this guy added supercar wheels to his 3D-printed Porsche 992 GT3 RS?

The Porsche GT3 RS is one of the most track-focused cars in Porsche’s lineup.

But because of its hefty price tag and limited availability, it’s not practical for most car lovers to get their hands on one.

Instead of securing one through official channels, Mike Lake utilized 3D printing to reproduce the car’s bodywork and mount it to a Porsche Boxster donor chassis.

Now it was time to add wheels to the project.

The real GT3 RS has 21×12 rear wheels and 20×9.5 front wheels.

To fulfill these measurements, Lake teamed up with Arta Wheels for some custom-forged, two-piece wheels, hoping to fill up the wide arches without the need for spacers.

With a deadline to display the car at Keep It Reet Friday Night Drifts within three days, there was no time to delay.

Lake and his team sourced some secondhand GT3 RS tires for test-fitting purposes so that they wouldn’t risk new rubber.

How did the wheels turn out in the end?

Modifications had to be made to the vehicle to fit the tires – the rear arches were trimmed for example.

When it came time to do a wheel test, the car had a ‘monster truck’ moment.

What we mean by that is when the vehicle was lowered, they quickly realized the coilovers had been set way too high.

But by the time of the event, the car was a smash hit.

Work wasn’t done yet, however – the rear tires were deemed to still be a bit too big, so there were plans put in place to go down a size.

But the positive reception of the crowd at Keep It Reet Friday Night Drifts was good motivation to spur them on with their work.
