Keanu Reeves, your favourite celebrity’s favourite celebrity, loves the Porsche 911.
The Canadian film legend is renowned for the John Wick series, as well as The Matrix, and Point Break.
He’s also a massive motorcycle and car fanatic, with a special love for the Porsche 911.
Reeves was heartbroken when his 911 was stolen during the filming of a movie, so he approached the Stuttgart brand to help build his dream replacement.

Porsche 911: an icon amongst icons
The 911 is, without doubt, one of the most iconic cars ever built.
First released in 1964, the 911 actually got its famous numbering because of a dispute with French automotive firm Peugeot.
The 911 was originally released as the “901”, but Peugeot claimed it had the rights to sell cars with three digits with a 0 in the middle.
So, instead of making a batch of new cars, Porsche decided to rebrand to the now-iconic 911 moniker.
Every car since 1964 has come with a flat-six, rear-mounted boxer engine.
Despite changes over the years, the rear-engine icon has maintained its identity.

Keanu Reeves really loves Porsches.
In an interview with Porsche in 2016, Reeves revealed his Porsche origin story.
As a child, he remembered playing with Matchbox car toys, and the 911 Turbo was his favourite one.
Interestingly, he also clearly remembered his beloved grandmother’s boyfriend drove a 911 Targa.
After that, it was off to the races for Reeves; when he bought his first Porsche, he settled on a black 911 Carrera 4S (type 993), nicknamed The Sled.
Heartbreakingly for Reeves, someone stole The Sled whilst he was filming a movie.

After a period of getting over the loss of The Sled, Reeves was finally ready to get a new one.
Reeves approached the Porsche Customer Consultation Center in Beverly Hills to see what could be done.
True to German fashion, the brand revealed some of the actor’s specific requests.
Reeves wanted a 12 o’clock center marker on his steering wheel. He also wanted black anodized interior trim panels.
And, of course, Porsche agreed to help their star fan rebuild his dream car.
Happy ending to a sad event
Thankfully, Keanu Reeves got his new vehicle just before he started filming the first John Wick movie.
Even better news is that Reeves’ love affair with the Stuttgart brand seems stronger than ever.
In fact, when the hit videogame “Cyberpunk 2077” was released, Reeves was asked to play the starring role.

And guess what his character drives? A 911 Turbo (type 930).
