Six months after purchasing a Porsche Taycan 4S, this EV expert has given his honest review as to whether it was worth splashing out all of his savings.

Buying a Porsche is an expensive task; there’s no denying that.

Very few people manage to find much financial benefit, and these luxury cars are more of a statement than an investment.

But what about the Porsche Taycan 4S? Can it break the mold and be worth emptying your pockets for?

EV expert breaks down Porsche Taycan 4S flaws and positives

Studies in 2025 have placed Porsche EVs at the top of the list for cars that depreciate the quickest.

Especially the Porsche Taycan, so much so that one person claims that he’s already lost six figures on it.

But that hasn’t stopped the sales coming in thick and fast for this luxury EV.

In a bid to skirt around the depreciation issue, one man has now bought a second-hand Porsche Taycan 4S, and half a year later, he’s still thrilled with his purchase.

YouTube personality Tom Voelk has taken to his platform to reveal the joys – and a few cons – of the car, and why it was worth the money.

First off, he claimed that it was imperative to get a used one, if possible.

“Used EVs are screaming deals,” he said.

“My car originally MSRP’d for around $164k, and I drove it off the lot for around $73k, well under half price, and with over 2 years left on the Porsche warranty.”

After going on various trips around the West Coast of America, namely one lengthy journey from Ontario to Seattle, the plug-in EV is an easy ride with a good range and access to Tesla chargers to keep you going.

There are some flaws, such as the center console that’s ‘borderline dangerous’ to access while on the go, and battery flushes are more expensive than oil changes.

But for the most part, the car is smooth, quick, powerful, and reliable.

Would he buy it again?

At the hefty price of $73k, it’s likely that the Porsche Taycan has dropped even further in price, unless it’s hiding a rarity under the bonnet.

However, he is sold. The depreciation isn’t enough to warn him off this lifelong ride.

“It is the most expensive vehicle I’ve ever purchased, and it’s used, but yes. Yes, I would [buy it again]. I have never owned a vehicle this rewarding to drive,” he said.

Having won an abundance of awards in 2024, it’s clear that these luxury cars are more about enjoying the ride rather than making a quick buck.

And if you’re willing to put the pennies in for a lifetime of smooth sailing, it looks to be a deal worth doing.
