Porsche has upped its game even further with the new Cayenne EV and has cleverly showcased the ability of the vehicle.
Forget standard track tests and simple 0-60 rev-ups, this time the Cayenne has towed a speedboat across an impressive distance.
Rearing its head at the UK’s Goodwood Festival earlier this year, the EV has already turned heads in the early stages.
But, after scoring some impressive numbers towing a whole vessel, now the EV is set to top every car lover’s Christmas list.

The Porsche Cayenne EV literally defied gravity
The Porsche Cayenne is a cult classic in the car world, and now the EV version is set to be no different.
Described as the ‘next chapter in the Porsche sports car legacy’, the vehicle not only looks the part, but performs like a maestro too.

Capable of 1,156hp of power and the ability to add 300km in just 10 minutes when recharging, the Porsche power is a force to be reckoned with.
But, aside from being powerful, the EV also needs to be strong – and to test this theory, officials came up with a high-strength test.
The new release was tasked with towing one of the brand’s own boats across a vast distance, which was no easy feat considering the power of the vessels it produces, but more on that later.

It isn’t the only test that it has been subject to, either, with the Dubai desert and Scandinavian tundra also being utilized to push the new Porsche Cayenne EV to extremes.
Here’s what Porsche had to say on the tow test
The tow test was revealed to Drive in a conversation, and it proved to have seriously impressive results.
“The Porsche boat, we towed it from near Salzburg, where it is built, to Stuttgart, and it was possible to go 250 kilometres on the motorway,” said Porsche Cayenne Product Line Vice President Michael Schaetzle.
While it’s not clear which boat was towed, as we reported, one model has a top speed of 49.84 knots, which surely implies a vast engine and clever materials manufactured, reflected in the reported weight of 6,100lbs.
Of course, towing impacts performance, but the Cayenne seems to have set a new standard, with its towing capacity of 7,716 lbs.
The company also announced its 113kWh battery capacity recently, and alongside fast charging, is also set to offer a wireless option.
It will consist of a ‘flat floor plate’ which the EV can roll onto and, in turn, adjust to charge in the most efficient way possible, regardless of wet or cold weather conditions.
The combined WLTP range of 642km is surely set to turn heads too.
Porsche’s SUV Product line sales and marketing director, Dirk Britzen, also commented on the towing and driving range correlation.
“It depends on how heavy the trailer, in fact, is, how fast you go, or if you go upwards or downwards.
“For sure, but it has an impact, as of today, when you have a 3.5-ton trailer load by ICE, the range declines,” he told the Drive.
But, it seems that the new EV has pushed itself to the extreme and delivered, regardless of the weight topping the scales.
Now, it’s all eyes on Porsche as the release of the new car beckons.
