Prince’s car collection would be enough to make you party like it’s 1999.
There was a lot to love about the late musician – his purple outfits, awesome music, and unparalleled talent with instruments.
But one overlooked aspect of the Purple Rain singer’s life was his love of cars.
And we’re not just talking about little red Corvettes.

Celebrity car collections are always a treat.
Oftentimes, the collections say a lot about their famous owners.
For Shaquille O’Neal, size was the name of the game – hence why he modified many of his cars to fit his 7-foot-1 frame.
Dolly Parton’s cars are as stylish as she is, and Michael Jackson’s Rolls-Royce limo was similarly larger than life.
Much like Michael Jackson, Prince was a larger-than-life character.

With hits like When Doves Cry and 1999, he made himself a firm favorite with millions of music lovers around the world.
Cars and motorbikes played a bigger role in his career than you might have expected.
Everybody knows that he wrote a song called Little Red Corvette, which wasn’t actually about a Corvette, incidentally, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Cars have popped up in several of his music videos over his career.
So what does Prince’s collection say about him?
To start off, there’s the Hondamatic CM400A.

This customized bike featured heavily in the 1984 movie Purple Rain, and Prince looked really cool riding it.
It was a 1981 model, and true to form, it was purple.
Its appearance wasn’t limited to the movie, however, as it also appeared on the cover of the album of the same name.
Another of Prince’s films Under the Cherry Moon (1986) included an appearance from a 1964 Buick Wild Cat.
The Wild Cat is attention-grabbing, but timelessly classic – much like Prince himself.

And with a ‘Love’ license plate, doesn’t that sum up his style?
Cars were even prone to showing up in his music videos, like the 1991 BMW 850i, which appeared in the video for Sexy M.F. in 1992.
Its bright yellow exterior was arue eye-catcher.
And it had Prince’s symbol on the license plate – what more do you need?!

A 1993 Ford Thunderbird appeared in the music video for Alphabet St.
But some cars were kept out of the limelight for the most part, and it’s a varied bunch.
You have some modern (for the time) cars like the 1999 Plymouth Prowler, which was fittingly purple, or the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Then you get some classic staples like the Buick Electra 225.

It’s a shame that Prince didn’t give more interviews whilst he was alive, as we would have loved to hear the Purple One wax more about his incredible car collection.
