This family in Cyprus ended up ‘accidentally’ creating one of the largest BMW collections in the world.
In the 1950s, Pilakoutas Group began working with BMW to create a solid network of dealers in Cyprus.
But what started as a ‘regular’ collab ended up turning this small Mediterranean island into a go-to place for BMW owners and collectors.
And some of the cars here can’t be found anywhere else.
How Pilakoutas Group created a BMW empire
In the 1950s, BMW wanted to expand its presence in Europe and ended up teaming up with a family-run business called Pilakoutas.
The relationship has lasted over 65 years, and it has helped Pilakoutas scale up to become one of the world’s most renowned BMW dealers.
More importantly, it turned this small island in the Mediterranean into a haven for rare Bimmers.

UK-based dealer and YouTuber Yiannimize – the guy who tried importing a Cybertruck into the UK – traveled to Cyprus for two reasons.
First, he wanted to buy a convertible E30 for his 50th birthday, and second, he wanted to explore one of the world’s largest BMW collections.
This collection is out of this world
Through the years, Pilakoutas Group has put together a collection that even the German automaker would struggle to amass.
The collection includes two Z8s in excellent condition, an 850 CSi, and even two M1s, which several people consider the first ‘M’ car.
Pilakoutas Group’s collection also features the Isetta, a tiny bubble car that saved the brand from bankruptcy in the 1950s.

Obviously, they also have several 3 Series models at their disposal, including the E30 325i that Yiannimize ended up buying for €22,000 – equivalent to around $25,000.
The price sounds palatable, but Yiannimize is probably going to end up spending at least $15,000-$20,000 to import the car into the UK and make it street-legal over there.
Although with a bit of luck, this’ll be a lot easier than it was with the Cybertruck we mentioned before.
