This romantic art installation called Pulse Island is lighting up the skies of Abu Dhabi by transforming heartbeats into glowing light shows that can be seen throughout the city.
Who knew romance could get so grand, yet so simple?
But having your partner look up at the sky as your heart skips a beat and erupts into a frantic pulse would be enough to melt even the coldest of hearts.
Well, this impressive piece of tech does just that, as the exhibition known as Pulse Island (or Pulse Corniche) allows passersby to reflect their heartbeat onto the Abu Dhabi skyline.

Abu Dhabi’s Pulse Island is a light show using heartbeat pulses
As the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), there’s little expense spared when it comes to putting on a show.
The wealthy capital is known for its wild supercars, innovative and bold superyachts at its docks, and its advancement in flight tech.
Oh, and, of course, light shows.
Using drones, fireworks, or strobes, the Abu Dhabi skyline is often illuminated with incredible artwork.
One of these awesome projects is Pulse Island, which is controlled by the beating hearts of its locals.

Originally made in 2015, the art installation features over a hundred lights that span across a field, and five strobes that collide with each other in the sky.
But to get them to bounce and move, people can place their hand under the scanners, which measure their heartbeat and pulse it into the beams.
Five different hearts can be spotted dancing in the air, all reflecting different tempos.

Now that’s a date-night idea.
Light shows? How about we let the cars get involved
There’s so much to enjoy about light shows, even if Pulse Island might be the best in the business.
Cars are pretty good at making them, too.
In fact, a whole barrage of Cybertrucks once gathered to put on a display that signalled a shift in automotive technology.
Other Tesla cars have replicated this show in Maryland, bouncing their headlamps off each other in a dazzling moment of mayhem.
But arguably more impressive – and more practical – are the roads in Australia, which have their own built-in glow-in-the-dark light and music shows, in a bid to combat speeding and tiredness, especially at night.
