A smart-looking 1999 BMW L7 has resurfaced in the US, and it’s packed with neat nostalgic features, including its very own VHS player.

The BMW E38, or the 7 Series as it was also known, was produced between 1994 and 2001.

The lineup included the rare L7 limousine, which was introduced in 1997 and offered some very impressive additions for its day.

Only 899 BMW L7s were ever made, and one of them has recently been sold for a tidy sum in New York.

The slick-looking BMW L7 has a powerful V12 engine and plenty of nostalgic features

BMW is known for its luxurious vehicles, but even by its usual high-standards, the L7 was a little bit special.

The L7 had a longer wheelbase than the 7 Series iL models, measuring around 17.6 feet, meaning it had plenty of room inside.

The German carmaker made good use of all that extra space by cramming the car with some very cool additions, which, at the time, would have been seriously luxe but now come with a huge hit of nostalgia.

In the roomy rear compartment, you’ll find individual power seats, a TV screen and VHS player, a large center console with a car phone, a refrigerator, a fold-down table, and handy sun blinds.

Other top-of-the-line features include a CD stereo system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, double-pane side window glass, and dual-zone climate control.

BMW made just 899 of its L7 limos, one of which was recently listed on Bring a Trailer.

This example was finished in Nachtblau Metallic over Champagne leather upholstery and sat on multi-spoke 20-inch Alpina wheels.

Despite being almost 30 years old, the BMW L7 was in great condition and showed just 57,000 miles on the clock.

The owner had refreshed the upholstery just last year and had also recently replaced the brakes, brake lines, and control arms.

Under the hood, the L7 has held onto its original 5.4-liter M73 V12 engine that, when new, could produce up to 326 horsepower and 361 lb-ft of torque.

The rare L7 limo has gone to a new owner

The BMW L7 had originally been bought in the Gulf Region before making its way to Canada in 2024.

Last year, it was snapped up by a new owner in the US, who placed it up for sale this month.

The rare BMW attracted plenty of attention online and pulled in 35 bids before selling for $72,000.

Interestingly, it’s not the first rare Series 7 we’ve seen go up for sale this month.

An even rarer 1996 BMW 750iL, with a very interesting history, has recently been listed with a whopping $1,750,000 price tag.
