This rare view under a Boeing 737 shows the landing gear like you’ve never seen it

Footage from within a Boeing 737 airliner has shown off the landing gear like you’ve never seen it before.

It is rare that we get to see how an aircraft’s landing gear actually retracts inside the plane after it has taken off.

But a video that has surfaced on Reddit has shown just what it’s like.

And it reveals exactly how important it is to have working landing gear.

What does the Boeing 737 footage show us?

The opening segment of the footage shows the Boeing 737 rolling down the runway.

We see the wheels start to move and spin faster and faster as the aircraft prepares for take-off.

The Boeing airliner then lifts off the ground, and the wheel brake is applied to stop it spinning.

Then the wheels began to retract inside the aircraft as they neatly slot into the underbody of the jet.

Once the wheels are inside, the covers begin to come up, and the wheel cabin descends into darkness.

But the footage doesn’t stop there, as we also get to see the landing of the Boeing 737.

Arguably, the footage of the aircraft landing is even cooler.

Light bursts into the wheel housings again as the covers open.

We then watch as the wheels deploy, the landing gear retracting downward ahead of the landing.

In this video, the aircraft is flying over water.

We can see its shadow below as it approaches the runway.

The Boeing then touches down onto the tarmac, with the tires creating a puff of smoke as they strike the ground.

The landing gear compresses as it lands, allowing the plane to touch down safely.

Seeing the landing gear of an aircraft from this viewpoint is an incredibly rare occurrence and a very cool angle.

It gives us a great idea of how the gear works and what happens as a plane lands and takes off.

It also reveals exactly why it’s such a big deal when landing gear fails to deploy for pilots mid-air.
