A Californian woman has earned herself a spot in the Guinness World Records after getting more than 50 ‘technological implants’ into her body, including microchips and magnets.

Anastasia Synn, originally from Canada, is a stunt performer and magician who also happens to be a biohacker.

For those unfamiliar with the term, a biohacker is someone who uses science and technology to make their body perform or function better.

In Anastasia’s case, these biohacks include a sound-transmitting magnet implanted into the tragus of her ear and an implant in her knee that opens her front door, which would come in handy when you’re carrying a bunch of shopping bags.

The world-record holder is part human, part machine

While many of us make use of clever tech such as phones that can open up our car doors, 51-year-old Anastasia has gone one step further.

She’s embedded a total of 52 technological implants into her body, about half of which are microchips.

The microchips are programable meaning she can use them to unlock doors, turn on her computer, or call a certain number if it’s scanned by her phone.

She’s also got the world’s largest magnet ever implanted into a person.

In fact, her efforts were even recognized by the Guinness World Records in 2023, and she now proudly owns the title of the most technological implants in the body (female).

Anastasia told the Daily Mail that she first became interested in the concept when her teenage daughter told her about a ‘gamer girl’ she’d seen online who used a microchip to unlock her computer.

After buying her very first microchip, she eventually got the chip implanted into her left hand around a year or so later, alongside an NFC chip.

After this, she said ‘went down a rabbit hole’ and began looking into other biohackers, and within about six years of that first implant, she had a whopping 52.

Her 52 technological implants all have their own uses

As well as a secret sound-transmitter in her ear, Anastasia’s implants have all kinds of uses, including a bio-temperature chip that can be scanned to reveal her body temperature, an RFID chip that opens a safe, and an NFC chip in her right hand that’s programmed to play her favorite music when scanned.

She also uses the implants in her work as a magician, with magnets that are used to pick up metal objects and one that is able to stop watches.

Other implants have a far more personal connection.

Anastasia’s husband, Johnathan, died in 2022, and she now has implants that pay tribute to him, including one scannable microchip that plays their wedding video, and another that pulls up his memorial.

Although she has dozens of implants all over her body, Anastasia says she likes the fact that they’re hidden away.

“One thing I like about my implants is you can’t really see any of them – you don’t know where they are,” she told the publication.

“So you wouldn’t think I’m this hardcore, implanted person.”

Unless you caught sight of her Guinness World Record title, of course.
