Man makes 'absolutely bonkers' barn find as he discovers old Porsche that had been rotting away for decades

Somebody found a rare and abandoned Porsche in an old barn, and people have two questions.

The first one is obvious, how did it end up here?

The second question is about the model, which is hard to decipher.

There seems to be an answer, though.

Why so many cars end up abandoned in old barns

Not a week goes by without one of these crazy barn finds.

Unfortunately – or fortunately – for car fans, these things happen a lot more frequently than we think.

There are several reasons why.

Sometimes, it’s just the aftermath of a disaster, like cars abandoned in Fukushima or Chernobyl.

On other occasions, it’s because the owner died with no heirs or no will.

Or maybe there are heirs but they just don’t care about cars.

Sometimes, it’s because the cars are tied to some sort of scam or wrongdoing.

Either way, it’s always sad.

The two theories surrounding this Porsche

A Redditor who goes by P1800r discovered an abandoned Porsche with no visible VIN and locked doors.

“Family barn, [the owner] stored it here for the past 30 years. No next of kin that we know of. Last contact with the owner was 10 years ago. The doors are locked so no VIN visible, but the tires have a DOT code from ’78,” they wrote.

No one knows why and how it ended up here, but people in the comment section came up with two solid theories about the car itself.

Theory number one mentions a modified SC/Carrera with aftermarket turbo-look parts, like the widebody kit and the massive wing.

The second theory, probably the most likely, mentions a 1970s pre-intercooler 930 Turbo.

Either way, this car is worth a significant chunk of money as is, and probably a fortune if and when restored.
