A billionaire in China has gone to extreme lengths to have his new Rolls-Royce hoisted to the living room of his penthouse.

The wealthy buyer, who owns a condo on the 44th floor of a high-rise building, wanted to park his brand-new Rolls-Royce Ghost on his terrace.

So he made it happen.

The Rolls-Royce was lifted more than 170 meters up the side of a skyscraper in the Fujian province, about 500 miles south of Shanghai.

The company responsible for the job said lifting the heavy Rolls-Royce was quite tricky.

The car weighs north of 2.5 tons and there was no room for error.

“It took a lot of calculations and experiments to tow it up before we started to do this,” the company said.

“The whole process was completed by the engineering department of the real estate firm.”

The Rolls-Royce was placed in a custom built iron cage that was hoisted by three steel cables alongside the building’s wall.

After the car reached the 44th floor, it was pulled onto the sky terrace using steel ropes.

Then came the easy part.

Once the tires hit the floor, it was just a case of literally driving the car forward and putting it in park.

It looks a bit dodgy, but the firm that oversaw the process said there “was no problem with safety”, and it was a “carefully planned project”.

We’re not sure what the owner plans to do with the car now, whether it will just sit on his terrace looking pretty or if he’ll actually want to drive it.

We hope it doesn’t remain ornamental forever.
