The luxury British automaker has just revealed the Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque, a one-of-one Phantom created with the world’s first laser-engraved hood
It’s a tribute to Mashrabiya, the geometric latticework seen across traditional homes throughout the Middle East.
But this gorgeous hood design isn’t just a simple surface treatment.
The automaker said the technique used took five years to develop and master. But, more importantly, Rolls-Royce now holds the patent.

A luxury beast with a Laser-Engraved Hood
The new Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque is a luxury car like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
If you’re impressed by the Rolls-Royce’s custom colors of Diamond Black and silver, you’ll be blown away by the laser-engraved hood.
The luxury British automaker says the process is inspired by Italian sgraffito, where layers are selectively removed to reveal contrasting color beneath.

Here, the hood is painted in a darker shade, sealed under multiple layers of clear coat, then finished with a lighter top layer.
A Mashrabiya pattern is then engraved into the surface, exposing the darker tone below. It also creates a textured, three-dimensional look.
Each engraved section is hand-sanded for an even finish, with subtle visual shifts created by changes in laser speed and intensity.

This custom Rolls-Royce Phantom is built to turn heads
Phantom Arabesque arrives in a bespoke combination of Diamond Black for the main body and contrasting Silver up top.
The exterior also features amazing effects, including an illuminated Pantheon Grille, an uplift Spirit of Ecstasy, and 22-inch part-polished alloy wheels.

Inside, the theme continues with a full-width Gallery marquetry artwork crafted from Blackwood and Black Bolivar wood, echoing the same geometric pattern.

The cabin is finished in Selby Grey and Black leather, with embroidered Mashrabiya motifs on the headrest. Starlight Doors and illuminated treadplates also feature a cross-section of the hood design.
The car has already been delivered to its owner in the Middle East, where it stands as one of the most intricate Phantom builds to date.
