YouTuber manages to acquire one of the rarest cars ever made, otherworldly hybrid between an RV and a boat
- This, believe it or not, is an actual vehicle
- Called Boaterhome, around 20 units were built
- Only one is known to still exist in one piece

This is the Boaterhome, a unique RV that looks like a ‘man-in-shed’ project, but it isn’t.
This is a real vehicle, built by a real company.
People kind of forgot about its existence but, as it turns out, at least a couple of these are still alive and (sort of) kicking..
This is one of them, and even though it doesn’t look perfect, it looks salvageable.

An incredibly rare (and odd) RV
The Boaterhome was bought by a YouTuber who goes by HeavyDSparks, and his plan is to restore it.
It was built by ‘gluing together’ a a 1987 Ford Econoline and a 24-foot (7.3 meter) boat, which makes it one of the most incredible and weird vehicles ever created.
It was manufactured by a company called Highwave, and at least 21 were produced, but only two or three still exist today and, as you can see, they’re not in what you’d call mint condition.

It gets worse, in a way, because this is the only one we know for sure is still in one piece.
The YouTuber said he wants to restore this vehicle, which will probably not be super easy, and definitely not particularly cheap.
When RVs look like…something else
RVs and motorhomes can sometimes look completely different when we compare them to what we think an RV ‘should’ look like.
Sometimes, actually almost always, it’s because they’re somebody’s DIY project.

There’s a man in Texas who created an RV by combining three vehicles, including a fire truck.
That’s pretty unique, but probably not as unique as the RV created by the guy who, at this point we could probably say ‘famously’, converted Elvis Presley’s jet into a motorhome.
