Shelby America has unveiled its 2026 Super Snake, and it is an absolute beast, offering more power than the Ford Mustang GTD for a lot less cash.
The first time the Super Snake name was used by Shelby was on a big block Cobra roadster in 1966.
Decades later in 2007, the name was revived and since then has become a flagship vehicle for Shelby.
Now, the latest version has been unveiled, and it comes with a formidable 830 horsepower.

The 2026 Shelby Super Snake is a powerful beast
The Shelby Super Snake is the company’s longest-running Ford Mustang model.
The modified Mustang doesn’t just pack in more power, its also been given some smart-looking aesthetics changes, including widebody carbon fiber fenders, and some magnesium wheels.

“Over the years, the Shelby Super Snake has evolved but kept its fierce competitive personality,” President of Shelby American Gary Patterson said.
“Every aspect of the vehicle is modified and upgraded.
“The Shelby Super Snake has become our flagship car, as well as the longest running model based on the Ford Mustang in our history.”
The 2026 Super Snake is based on the stock S650 Ford Mustang, and features the same 5.0-liter V8 engine that can produce 480hp.

However, Shelby offers an optional Whipple supercharger, which can boost the output to a mighty 830hp – 15hp more powerful than the impressive Ford Mustang GTD.
Alongside the supercharged engine, the Shelby Super Snake benefits from an upgraded cooling system, with a new radiator and heat exchanger, as well as grippier tires, a Borla exhaust, and improved brake rotors.
The 2026 model will be offered with either a manual or automatic transmission, and is available as either a fastback or convertible body configuration.
The Super Snake costs a lot less than the Ford Mustang GTD
As well as being more powerful than the Ford Mustang GTD, it’s also a lot cheaper.
The GTD comes with a price tag of around $325,000, whereas the Super Snake has a starting price of $175,885.
Shelby likes to keep exclusivity with its Super Snake models, with strictly limited production runs.

And it’s no different for the 2026 model – the company has confirmed just 300 units will be made for the US and production is already underway in Las Vegas.
So, if you don’t want the Super Snake to slip away, now is the time to snap one up.
