This simulation shows what the flyby speed of a Concorde and the International Space Station would look like at street level in New York City.

It’s hard to put into perspective just how fast some aircraft moves through the air.

So this video made for fascinating – if not mildly terrifying – viewing.

Buckle yourselves in, things are about to speed up.

We’ve seen some fascinating simulations

The sky really is the limit when it comes to the internet.

Wanted to go around the Earth at the speed of light? There’s a simulation that allows you to do just that.

And if you ever wanted to see what a Mach 50 flyover from Los Angeles to New York would look like, the internet has you covered.

A video recently shared by Airplane Mode showed what flyby speed would look at street level in New York City.

For the sake of the simulation, various aircraft were shown in action.

And believe us when we say there was some serious diversity in this lineup.

Wright Flyer

For example, the first aircraft shown taking flight was the Wright Flyer from 1903.

That’s right, the plane that the Wright Brothers built.

Capable of Mach 0.009 and 11km/h, it didn’t make much noise or go all that fast.

In fact, a man on a bike was shown outpacing it.

1969 Concorde

This put it in sharp contrast to the 1969 Concorde, capable of Mach 1.78 and 2,179km/h.

Let’s just say, it was a dramatic scene when the windows in the surrounding buildings shattered.

And the Concorde itself? A sighting of it was a true ‘Blink and you’ll miss it’ situation.

Want something faster than a Concorde? How about an SR-71?

Another aircraft featured in the video was the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, which could go at speeds of 3,530km/h.

You may recall that this Cold War plane is the fastest in the world, even outpacing missiles.

So you can only imagine what it would look like if one of these was flown through a major city like New York.

You guessed it – glass raining down on the streets from up above and car alarms going off all at once.

In other words, total chaos.

The biggest of them all – the International Space Station

And then there was the big one – the International Space Station itself.

While we tend to think of slowing orbiting up in the space, this thing has some serious speed on it – 27,600km/h.

Talk about upping the ante.

It was more chaos for the poor people of simulation New York City.

Viewers were very impressed by the simulations.

“It literally went from normal day in the city to Man of Steel level destruction,” one person wrote.

“Ain’t no way you’ve actually got my heart going,” another commented.

Good thing it’s only a simulation.
