Smart has officially unveiled its next car: the Smart #2, which is a name that has left the internet in stitches.

The tiny city car is part of the carmaker’s electric lineup, following the more well-known #1 model, and is aimed at urban commuters who want a compact, eco-friendly ride.

The #2 packs in the essentials: a fully electric powertrain, a range of roughly 190 miles, fast-charging capabilities, and a surprisingly roomy interior for a car of its pint-sized stature.

It may be small, but Smart promises it’s nimble, efficient, and perfect for navigating crowded city streets.

Don’t do the #2 in your #2

Specifications aside, it’s the name that has everyone talking.

‘#2’ is a choice that inevitably conjures up bathroom humor, and the memes hit the internet almost immediately after the announcement.

Social media users couldn’t resist pointing out the obvious double entendre; you know, the one about ‘doing a #2.’

Compared to the #1, which sounds confident, aspirational, and positive, the #2 comes across as… well, a little less clever.

Adding to the hilarity is the fact that Smart already has other numbered cars in its lineup, like the #3 and #5.

The naming scheme makes little sense chronologically, leaving fans scratching their heads about why the brand skipped logical progressions to land on this particular number.

Did Smart really intend for people to associate their newest EV with a poop joke?

No matter what the company’s true intentions are, the internet clearly had a field day.

Despite its unfortunate name, the Smart #2 itself is shaping up to be a perfectly respectable city car.

With compact dimensions, lightweight construction, and the carmaker’s familiar playful design cues, it’s built for practicality and style in urban environments.

It will certainly be easy to park, given its size, so nobody will judge your bad parking.

In fact, as modern cars begin outgrowing the size of parking spaces, the Smart #2 intends to buck the trend.

Inside, the cabin features modern infotainment, sustainable materials, and enough space for two adults and a small set of groceries.

This is perfect for the eco-conscious city dweller, and a competitive option compared to other mini-sized cars.

Ultimately, the #2 has already gotten more attention than expected, due to its quirky name.

Whether the company intended it or not, the car has cemented its place in automotive history: not just for its features, but for the laughs it gave the Internet.
