A very special Chevy Monte Carlo recently surfaced on the internet.

The car, based in Arkansas, is a touching tribute to a motorsport icon.

Amazingly, this Chevy was bought brand new and then never driven.

But it has now come up on the market for sale.

Like most American cars, the Chevy Monte Carlo has undergone extensive evolution.

First released in 1970, the Monte Carlo found itself built on Chevrolet’s A-platform.

It turned out to be a very popular option, especially in its maiden decade of production.

The Monte Carlo that is the topic of today’s story is actually very special indeed.

And that is because it pays tribute to perhaps the greatest NASCAR driver to ever live.

In October 2001, Chevrolet released the Dale Earnhardt Edition Monte Carlo SS.

Earnhardt was a seven-time Winston Cup Series champion, winning in 1980, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993 and 1994.

He remains tied with “The King” Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson for most NASCAR championships, at seven.

Earnhardt is most famously associated with driving the Goodwrench No.3 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

The all-black car, driven under the Richard Childress Racing banner, remains among NASCAR’s most iconic cars.

Dale Earnhardt tragically lost his life in February 2001 during the Daytona 500.

And, to pay tribute, Chevrolet released the limited edition Monte Carlo SS.

Just 3,333 units were made (in order to pay tribute to the iconic No.3).

And now, one of these extremely rare units has just come up for sale.

What makes this car even more fascinating is that it is as close to brand new as you can get.

The owner bought this car, brand new, all the way back in 2001.

And it has driven a grand total of…seven miles.

That’s right – this 3.8 liter, V6-powered tribute has driven just seven miles in 24 years.

This Chevy Monte Carlo currently has an asking price listed at $32,500.

In fairness, it is going to be difficult to find a much cleaner (or newer) model anywhere in the US.
