The driver of a $3,500,000 Bugatti Chiron was caught speeding just once.
And he had his supercar impounded, as well as his licence taken for 10 years.
It turns out that the country in question takes speeding extremely seriously.
Something this supercar owner found out the hard way.

Austrian police impound Bugatti for speeding
You might remember that, back in March, a speeding story quickly went viral.
And it went viral from the European nation of Austria.
The star of that particular story was the Bugatti Chiron.
As you probably know, the Bugatti Chiron is an extremely fast vehicle, capable of hitting speeds north of 260mph.
And it’s the Chiron’s speed that landed it in trouble.
For those who don’t know, Austria is incredibly strict when it comes to speed limits.
The European country is known for dishing out hefty fines for speeding-related offences.

Unfortunately, the driver of one such $3,500,000 Chiron was the one to fall foul of the authorities.
In a video uploaded to YouTube, police can be seen on the road in the city of Vienna.
Apparently, local authorities clocked the Chiron driving at 76mph.
When a vehicle is capable of pushing such speeds, 76mph might not seem like a lot.
But Austria’s police clearly do not see it that way.
Chiron succeeds the Veyron throne
As you know, the Bugatti Chiron is a bona fide icon of the supercar world.
When the Veyron retired in 2015, many wondered how the marque could succeed it.
In 2016, Bugatti revealed the Chiron as the successor to the crown.
The Chiron shared some of its components with its predecessor.
For example, both shared a carbon fiber body structure, as well as independent suspension.
The prince shared the same 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 powerplant as its predecessor.
Of course, it wowed the masses from the second it hit the asphalt.
A 0-60 time of just 2.4 seconds set a new standard for the entire supercar industry.

There was also the small matter of being capable of doing 0-125mph in just 6.5 seconds.
In fact, Bugatti had to limit the Chiron’s top speed to 261mph electronically.
The reason? Because no current tire in production would be capable of handling the Chiron at its actual top speed.
Suddenly, 76mph starts to seem a little more reasonable in our eyes. Just not in Austria.
