The Sultan of Brunei is not left wanting when it comes to Ferraris, as he could give away one to every resident of the Vatican City and still have 200 left for himself.
He’s renowned for his extensive car collection, but the ruler still finds way to exceed himself.
There’s a whole range of cars in his collection, from Jaguars to Bentleys.
But it’s the Ferraris that Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah owned which are of particular interest – if just for the sheer quantity of them.
The Sultan of Brunei could give Ferraris out to every person in the Vatican City and still have spares
In the Sultan’s vast collection is 450 Ferraris of all stripes.
It’s almost hard to comprehend that, isn’t it?

Many people would chomp at the bit to get their hands on one, and this Sultan has 450 in his possession.
To put that into perspective, let’s take a look at the Vatican City.
As the world’s smallest independent sovereign state, the Vatican City also has the smallest population.
Between 500 and 800 people are citizens, but only 250 of them live there – the rest are dispersed around the world as diplomats.

So put it another way, the Sultan could easily dish out a Ferrari to every person living within the Vatican City and still have 200 left over.
Not that the Pope himself would object to that – Pontiffs have a long-running fondness for the brand from Pope Leo VIV back to Pope John Paul II.
And get this – Ferrari is still dwarfed by Rolls-Royce, of which there are more than 600 in the collection.
In this hypothetical, what Ferraris could the citizens of the Vatican City expect to receive?
A deep dive into the Ferraris
As you might expect from a 450 strong collection, there’s plenty of diversity here.
There’s a fair few classics and rarities, including a 250 LM, an automatic-converted 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider, a 512 BB Koenig Special, and five 288 GTOs in non-standard colors.

The collection also plays host to one of only six 288 GTO Evoluziones built.
The Sultan would spoilt for choice when it comes to Testarossa Spiders, as he has eight to choose from.

He also owns all six F90s, three Mythos concept cars, and six of the seven FX cars.
And that’s not forgetting the six 456 GT Venices, with an additional seventh not being in his possession.

You’d be hard-pressed to find anybody with a better line-up of Ferraris than this man.
And it’s not just the classics lining the floors of his many garages – there’s plenty of modern supercars here too.
We’re counting six F50s, nine 550 Maranellos, three Enzos, and three LaFerraris.
We can’t help but wonder if the new Luce EV will be joining the collection any time soon.
The Sultan of Brunei has a car collection that is the stuff of legends
All in all, the Sultan’s entire car collection is worth a staggering $5 billion.
Among the 7,000 cars, there are some real gems that you won’t find anywhere else.

Unfortunately, leaked photos of the collection don’t paint a pretty picture, as some appear to be dusty due to a lack of use.
It’d be nice if these cars all got their moment to shine, but with 7,000 to choose from, it’s inevitably that some won’t get as much attention.
