As the largest collection of supercars in the world, a sneak peek inside the garage of the Sultan of Brunei reveals the striking state of the $5 billion, 7,000-strong haul.

As far as car collections go, it’s unlikely that we’ll ever see something on the scale of the one currently owned by the Sultan of Brunei.

The reigning monarch has ruled since 1967, and in his time as the Sultan, he’s put his wealth to good use, sourcing the rarest cars in the world.

But some 58 years after his wild $5 billion collection began to form, we can now see signs of how these 7,000 supercars are faring.

Leaked images of the 7,000 Sultan of Brunei collection shows wear and tear

When we say that his collection is head and shoulders above anything we’ve ever seen – including the Rainbow Sheikh’s massive haul – we mean it.

The Sultan of Brunei could actually discard 5,000 of his cars worth $3 billion, and still have the largest car ensemble in the world.

But with some record-breaking showstoppers that stand out above the rest, others have begun to show their age.

Housed in a facility, images of the collection have been leaked over the years, and some of the less-special supercars have started to grow their own dust farms.

Back in the early 2000s, one anonymous person leaked thousands of images in a Google Drive folder, specifically highlighting some of the smaller prizes in his ownership.

On the lower levels, the folder showcased eight Ferrari F40s, an entire multicolored row of Porsche 959s, four Bugatti EB110s, and eight of the 106 McLaren F1s.

Some cars, such as a one-of-five Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, look worse for wear, with a coat of dust bunnies and a tired exterior.

Other models showed a similar level of exhausted exteriors, as the echoes of their pleas to get back on the road ring around the atmosphere.

The crown jewels are well looked after

Still, when it comes to his rare cars, however, they are truly remarkable.

The recent $25 million McLaren F1, for example, was refurbished by the Sultan of Brunei and the manufacturers to be a flawless, pearly-white supercar.

The same can be said of his gold-plated Rolls-Royce Silver Spur.

And you can imagine that his one-of-three converted Lamborghini LM002 wagons are well-looked after, considering a single tire costs $54,000 alone.

How much driving the Sultan actually does is not known, but it’s likely that his collection is more like an art gallery than a practical assortment of 200mph daily drivers.

Five wild stats about the Sultan of Brunei’s supercar collection

1: His Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is the most expensive royal car of all time

2: He owns all six of the custom Ferrari F90s, as the ex-Design Chief created an entirely new model just for his family.

3: He once saved Bentley from bankruptcy with a huge order of luxury cars

4: More than ten percent of the Bugatti EB110s fall under his ownership

5: His overall car collection also boasts the biggest hoard of Rolls-Royce cars and McLaren F1s in the world.
