How do I charge my Tesla EV?

No matter whether you own a Tesla Model Y, S, 3, Cybertruck, or any of the other many vehicles that Tesla has produced, it’s important to know that you are charging your EV correctly.

According to the cars’ user manuals, there is one way of getting the charging port open on your vehicle that remains pretty consistent across all the variations of EV.

While making sure your Tesla is in park, press and release the button on the Tesla charge cable to open the charge port door.

You can also use your touch screen to open your EV’s charging point.

In terms of where the charging point is, on most of the variations of Tesla EV, you will find it located on the back left hand side of the car.

How do I know if my electric vehicle is charging?

With your Tesla, there are a few ways to check your EV is charging correctly, and it’s all about the color of the charge port light.

When you first get the charging point open, make sure you insert a charging lead into it because otherwise it closes again.

When the charger and the battery are connecting, the port light will stay a solid blue and then as it begins charging it will start to flash green.

If the color shows as amber, that means you have not connected the cable correctly.

As you get closer to a full charge, the green will start flashing slower, eventually reaching a solid green state which alerts you that it is fully charged.

If the port glows red, then you have an issue.

When you first connect your charger, it might take a while for your Tesla to start charging as your battery might need to cool down first.

And, there you have it, a simple guide on how to charge your Tesla EV properly! I
