Our very own Alex Hirschi, AKA Supercar Blondie, launched her career following a desert rally in Dubai, where she drove a Ferrari among a fleet of 50 other supercars.

This event featured a police escort and a helicopter monitoring the convoy as it moved from the Saudi border toward the city.

The sheer scale of the gathering provided a perspective on the automotive world that her daily radio job simply could not provide.

She realized during that drive that her professional life was about to take a significant turn.

The Ferrari drive that changed everything

Alex Hirschi had spent years establishing herself as a news presenter and radio host before the Supercar Blondie brand became her primary focus.

During a weekend event, she found herself part of a massive group of supercars traversing the vast landscapes of the United Arab Emirates.

Driving a Ferrari in a pack of 50 high-performance machines with a full police escort changed her outlook on the industry.

“That feeling of driving with 50 other supercars through the desert with police escort… I was like, ‘This is unreal,’” she recalled.

Alex returned from that trip and immediately contacted her employer to give one month’s notice.

She committed herself to a grueling schedule, filming every day of the week to capture the growing car culture around her.

This transition required a move away from the traditional broadcast booth and into the driver’s seat of the world’s most expensive vehicles.

As she looked back on the shift, she noted, “I can’t go back to the radio on Monday. This is crazy.”

This strategy allowed her to build an audience that eventually reached over 125 million followers across various platforms.

Scaling to global audiences

The growth of the brand eventually led to the launch of SBX Cars, a digital auction platform designed for high-end collectors.

This business venture allows owners to sell rare vehicles from their own garages without the need for physical auction houses.

The platform handles significant transactions, including the sale of an ultra-rare Lamborghini Veneno for $5 million.

Building a tech platform of this size required Alex to reinvest much of her social media earnings back into the company.

Her journey from a rural Australian farm to the center of the automotive world in Dubai highlights a shift in how car culture is consumed.

She has navigated health challenges and significant personal changes while continuing to expand the reach of the Supercar Blondie brand.

The business now operates as a sustainable entity that can function independently of her daily presence on camera.

Looking ahead to the next year, the focus remains on increasing the volume of high-value auctions and refining the digital experience for buyers.

Supercar Blondie has successfully moved from reviewing cars to facilitating the trades that define the modern exotic market.
