Ferrari is possibly the most famous car manufacturer in the world.

Established in 1939, the company is known for its high-performance supercars and its exploits in Formula 1.

Ferrari is currently expanding its lineup, with its new Purosangue SUV now available and an electric car also on the way alongside its supercars.

Why is Ferrari called Ferrari?

Ferrari takes its name from the man who founded it, Enzo Ferrari.

Mr. Ferrari was originally a racing driver driving for Alfa Romeo before he founded the Scuderia Ferrari racing team in 1929.

The automotive manufacturer was founded 10 years later and sold cars to help the company continue racing.

Enzo Ferrari passed away in 1988, and not long after, Ferrari secured a one-two finish at that year’s F1 Italian Grand Prix, the perfect tribute to his memory.

What year did Ferrari start making cars?

The very first Ferrari road car was the 125 S, also known as the 125 Sport.

The company only produced two of them, both powered by a 1.5-liter Colombo V12 engine.

The transmission came from a five-speed, a new transmission.

This could handle the V12’s power better than a traditional four-speed.

After the 125 S came from the 159 S, with Ferrari’s production slowly ramping up as the years went on.

Where are Ferrari cars built?

Ferrari’s current headquarters are in Maranello, Italy.

This is where the construction of its supercars takes place, with current models including the SF90 Stradale, the Purosange, the Daytona SP3, and the upcoming F80 hypercar.

Maranello is also home to the famous Fiorano test track, Ferrari’s private track.

The F1 team regularly uses the circuit to shake down its new F1 cars ahead of the new season.

How many Ferrari cars are built per year?

Ferrari is not a mass-production car company like Volkswagen, Chevrolet, or Honda.

It does not produce tens of thousands of cars each year.

In total, Ferrari makes around 8,400 cars each year – all of which are built in Maranello.

Ferrari takes extra precision and care with everything it does, hence the lower production numbers compared to other manufacturers.

What notable car models does Ferrari make?

Currently, Ferrari has some pretty notable vehicles in its lineup.

The SF90 Stradale is one of them, powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with added electric power.

The Purosangue is also part of Ferrari’s current range. This is the Italian company’s first SUV.

Ferrari calls it a Ferrari Utility Vehicle (FUV) however, and isn’t keen it being called an SUV.

The F80 is an upcoming model that will arrive later in 2025.

It is the successor to the LaFerrari hypercar and will have a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with up to 1,184HP, including its electric motors.

Which is the most expensive Ferrari?

There is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari – quality costs, as they say.

Everything the Italian manufacturer produces is expensive, although some are pricier than others.

Currently, the most expensive car in the Ferrari range is the Icona Daytona SP3.

Any buyer will be set back well over $2.2 million, although the upcoming F80 will surpass that and likely cost over $3 million.

Which is the cheapest Ferrari?

Calling a Ferrari cheap almost feels wrong.

There really is no such thing as a cheap car from Maranello, but there are ‘less expensive’ ones for sale.

The Ferrari Roma is currently the lowest-priced model.

As of the time of writing, it starts at just under $250,000, with the Roma Spider currently around $282,000.

What is the fastest Ferrari?

Ferrari cars aren’t exactly slouches – in fact, they are well known for their impressive turns of speed.

Most of its models can top 200mph, with the LaFerrari model’s 217mph top speed being one of the most impressive.

However, the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione, a track-only version of the Ferrari Enzo supercar, is at the top of the tree.

Thanks to its 848hp V12 engine, the Evoluzione tops out at 249mph.

Which Ferrari concept car should you know about?

Ferrari has produced some excellent supercars over the years. Just look at the Modulo concept.

However, perhaps the most outlandish is the Vision GT Concept.

Revealed in 2022, the Vision GT was a Gran Turismo video game concept that Ferrari said represented the future of its road-going cars.

In the game, the concept had a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, allowing for a top speed of 217mph.
