A man bought a range of ‘unbreakable’ items, ranging from prank toilet paper to a sledgehammer, to see if they actually lived up to the claims.

If you’ve spent long enough shopping online, you’ve probably seen a bunch of items that claim to be indestructible.

A quick search will throw up unbreakable speakers, notebooks, and even shoes.

But how many of them are as rough and tough as they claim?

Some of the ‘unbreakable’ products didn’t live up to the claims

Online shopping listings can come with all sorts of claims that don’t turn out to be true.

So, YouTuber John Malecki Unscrewed decided to find out for himself just how ‘indestructible’ a range of products actually were, and he didn’t mess about when it came to putting them through their paces.

He started off by testing a cube of tungsten – one of the hardest materials in the world – which would set a good standard for the rest to live up to.

Despite dropping it from various heights and on to a selection of different materials, as well as blasting it with a flamethrower, the teeny cube of tungasten held strong – and we can safely say it lives up to its claims.

However, the same couldn’t be said for an ‘indestructible’ rage cage for a console controller.

In theory, it prevents gamers from smashing up their controllers during a particularly frustrating moment of gameplay.

But in practice, it broken the very first time the YouTuber threw it to the ground.

Not ideal.

A pair of ‘indestrictuble shoes’ also failed to live up the name.

The Kevlar-reinforced, steel toe-capped boots claimed to be puncture proof, water resistant, and basically unbreakable.

But after trying them out on a bed of nails, whacking them with a hammer and subemrging them in water, John found out the toe capped shifted, they let in a lot of water, and the puncture proof sole was no match for a nail gun.

Some of the items fared much better

Not all of the items were a let down, though.

A JBL Charge 6 Speaker that claimed to be waterproof and dustproof, was put to the test and was still in fine working order after being exposed to both.

And a Yeti Cooler lived up to its claims of extreme durability, even after being thrown, dropped, and facing off against the tungsten.

He also tested an ‘indestrucible’ sledgehammer, and when we say tested, we do mean tested.

After using the sledgehammer to smash through a series of thick wooden blocks, John attempted to snap the handle.

But even exerting hundreds of pounds of pressure it remained intact, it also made short work of some large rocks, and even took on the tungsten cube.

“This one may genuinely be unbreakable,” John said.

“I’m going have to give the thumbs up on indestructible.”
