Tesla just released key details about its upcoming Cybercab.
We now know what the ‘Robotaxi’ will look like and have a better idea of the hailing system it will use.
The company took to X to share a promotional video for its Annual Meeting of Stockholders.
What was revealed in the video came as a surprise to everyone, even Elon Musk.

A lot of energy is being put into the development of autonomous taxis, which are seen as the future of urban travel.
Once in place, these types of taxis could help alleviate traffic, improve efficiency, reduce the risk of accidents, and provide more sustainable ways to travel.
Robotaxis made by Zoox, a company aiming to rival Uber, have already been spotted on the streets of Los Angeles.
And, a little higher up, pilotless flying taxis have completed successful test flights in Abu Dhabi.
As stated in the ‘master plan’ he wrote eight years ago, Musk has always wanted to build an ‘urban transport’ system.
This year, we’ll see the Cybercab be officially unveiled on 8 August.
We weren’t expecting much intel in the lead-up, however the Tesla team kindly decided to leak a few details.
In a video clip posted to X, various Tesla projects are highlighted, the most exciting being the company’s autonomous taxis.
Sketches of the interior show luxurious pillows on bench-style seats and, most crucially, no steering wheel.
There is a large display on the dashboard, similar to the one already found in Tesla’s cars.
The cab seems to have a glass roof and a spacious trunk.
The video also shows the app that will be used to hail the Robotaxi.
Currently, Tesla’s cars come equipped with its Full Self-Driving system, which still requires drivers to pay attention while on the road.
For these Cybercabs to take off, Tesla will need to upgrade their systems to be fully autonomous, or Level 5 autonomy.
The cabs would need to be fully operational in all conditions without any human intervention.
This video was, however, not an official announcement from Tesla about the ongoing project.
In fact, Musk had nothing to do with it.
“The Tesla team put this together of their own volition,” he posted on X.
All will be revealed on 8 August.
Until then, we’ll be hoping the Tesla team feels like making another montage full of Easter eggs.
