US man spots a Tesla Cybertruck towing a boat before a Ford F-150 comes along to completely ruin the illusion

When this American man spotted a Tesla Cybertruck towing a boat, it looked like an impressive sight – until a Ford F-150 appeared to ruin the illusion.
It looked like a scene straight out of a Tesla commercial, as this Cybertruck was filmed bringing a boat up a ramp.
What better way to demonstrate the towing prowess of this EV truck?
Well, things weren’t quite as they seemed.
The epic rivalry between the Tesla Cybertruck and the Ford F-150
There are plenty of iconic rivalries through history – Pepsi versus Coca Cola, Adidas versus Puma, Messi versus Ronaldo.
You could easily add the Ford F-150 and the Tesla Cybertruck to that list, given the amount of times they’ve been compared to each other.
And despite looking almost polar opposite, there’s certainly cause for the two to be pitted against each other.
Drag races and tugs of war are often where the competition really gets fierce.
Sales stats can only do so much – although incidentally, the F-150 Lightning outsold the Cybertruck in 2025.
Now there’s a new video circulating on TikTok which will only add fuel to the fire of this automotive rivalry.
This towing video was a textbook case of ‘appearances can be deceiving’
Set to the theme music of the iconic movie The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, the video starts off with a Tesla towing a boat up a ramp and out of water.
It looks like a fairly normal scene at first glance.
But then AK 49, the user who filmed the video, pulls back for a wider shot.
And things come crashing down for the street cred of the Cybertruck.

A wider shot revealed that a Ford F-150 was ahead of the Cybertruck, pulling it in turn.
More than three million people have viewed the video since it went up on TikTok, and it led to a lot of commentary from viewers.
One commenter put it best when they wrote: “I’m legitimately surprised the Cybertruck could be a functional chain link.”
The rest of the comments section was similarly humorous, as people took pot shots at the Cybertruck’s misfortune.
And unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that a towing mishap has caused some embarrassment.
You might recall the time a California man was advised to ‘just buy an F150’ after his Cybertruck towing issues.
And sometimes a Ford F-150 doesn’t even need to be around for Cybertruck owners to feel a little disappointed with their vehicle’s towing capabilities.
