A Massachusetts woman has been left stunned by the outrageous insurance costs after buying a Tesla Cybertruck.

The Tesla Cybertruck is not a cheap car by any means, but the closest thing we’ve had to a road-legal spaceship from the future is still well-valued.

You know exactly what you’re getting for your money when it comes to the Cybertruck, with the pickup being extremely powerful, efficient, and reliable.

But there are some hidden problems with owning such a behemoth car, and the massive insurance costs are just one of these.

New Tesla Cybertruck owner stunned at insurance costs quotes

Thanks to Tesla’s own Superchargers, the running costs of having one of their cars are quite minimal.

When it comes to the Cybertruck, some owners have found that they even cost much less than you’d imagine.

But if you’re in specific US states, the insurance costs are through the roof.

Popular online figure Becca Sophia Scott has been left flabbergasted at what she was quoted for her car insurance on a new Tesla Cybertruck.

The woman, now living in Massachusetts, used to own a Tesla Model 3 when she was in Las Vegas and insured her EV for a modest $170 a month.

That was because of Tesla Insurance.

Now that she’s in Massachusetts – a non-Tesla insurance state – this has rocketed up to a whopping $550 a month.

That’s three times as expensive – and it’s for the Model 3, never mind her new car.

After getting a new Cybertruck, she was stunned to get a quote of $$5,171 for six months or $861.83 per month for her insurance costs. Wow.

“I guess I’m the only person in the world who orders a car without checking the insurance first,” she said on TikTok.

Commenters on Scott’s post feared that this increased price is because Cybertrucks might not fare well in the snowy ice-cold temperatures.

Is that the case, though?

Cybertrucks have been known to do well in brief snowy conditions, but for extended periods of time, there could be a method to the insurance madness after all.
