An American from Maine has revealed the biggest surprise with his Tesla Cybertruck, after he compared the pickup truck to his Tesla Model 3 EV, just two months into his ownership.
The American posted their views on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, and the retired Mainer is no stranger to electric vehicles, thanks to their Model 3.
Posting on the forum, the owner drew some interesting comparisons with the efficiency of both the Cybertruck and the Model 3.
The comparison shows how different two electric vehicles can be, even if they come from the same manufacturer.

For reference, the car the Mainer already had was a 2018 Tesla Model 3 EV long-range all-wheel drive.
First of all, they were surprised at how much quieter the truck was compared to the electric sedan.
But it’s the efficiency of the Cybertruck that left them the most impressed.
Having expected the truck to be 50 percent less efficient, they were surprised at what they had.

The Model 3 gave the Mainer an efficiency rating of 225WH/mi – watt-hours per mile – on their daily commute.
This was over six days.
For the pickup, it was 304WH/mi, making it just 35 percent less efficient.
The truck he owns is a dual-motor model with core wheels.
Adding to this, the owner said they used about 18.4 percent of the state-of-charge over a 73-mile distance.
That is compared to the 75 miles and 25 percent state-of-charge for the Model 3.
It’s this efficiency that has had the Cybertruck owner so pleasantly surprised.
What makes it more impressive is the weight of the truck compared to the sedan.
The electric pickup truck weighs just under 50 percent more than the Model 3.
A lot of that comes from the bigger battery, which in itself is a 123KWH unit, versus the 79KWH unit of the sedan.

So, for the Cybertruck to be as close as it is efficiency-wise, despite the weight, is an impressive achievement.
Of course, we know the Cybertruck isn’t to everyone’s taste, just ask Scotty Kilmer.
It’s looks, and the man behind it, have been controversial enough.
But looking at it as an EV, the Cyebrtruck has a lot to boast about.
