Elon Musk has claimed time and time again that the Tesla Cybertruck is ‘apocalypse-proof,’ but what if we had a Tesla Cybertruck vs real-life apocalypse situation?

According to the Tesla CEO, the Cybertruck can withstand fire from handguns, an armor-piercing arrow, and a Thompson submachine gun.

The Tesla Cybertruck certainly had a very action-packed launch when a Tesla executive broke the window of the car.

This failure occurred right after Musk claimed it could withstand a sledgehammer.

However, even after the botched announcement, Tesla claimed to have received over 200,000 preorders in just two days.

But was the window breaking really a fluke like Musk said it was?

Or is the Cybertruck’s integrity as an ‘apocalypse-proof’ vehicle exaggerated?

Tesla Cybertruck vs the Apocalypse: Bulletproofing

Tesla has developed its own stainless steel alloy to manufacture the Cybertruck.

Although the Cybertruck doesn’t have bulletproof glass, the stainless steel doors are still thick enough to stop a bullet.

So, if you are ever being shot at by other survivors in an apocalypse, just duck and drive away.

Let’s just hope that you don’t run into something you are doing it.

Even if you do, the Tesla Cybertruck is really safe, even in a crash, so you should still be alright.

However, if you are up against a blunt weapon, there’s a certain chance the weapon could break the glass.

Fortunately, the windows use borosilicate glass that prevents the glass from breaking further, should a chip form.

But you might not be able to see out of the pickup truck’s cabin due to the cracks in the glass.

Tesla Cybertruck Anti-Theft System

It seems you won’t have to worry about someone stealing your car, while you are out gathering supplies, waiting for your Tesla to recharge.

Breaking into a locked Cybertruck is nearly impossible unless someone is willing to break the sunroof or the car’s windows.

In a post-apocalyptic setting, it might not be such a bad idea, but the alarm can certainly attract a lot of monsters or zombies.

Earlier this year, some thieves tried to break into the EV truck, only to fail — of which Elon Musk shared the video on X.

Electric over Gasoline

While the most practical solution might be to buy a hybrid car, where’s the fun in that?

Depending on the Cybertruck variant, you can have a range of up to 250-320 miles.

That range can even be extended to 440–470 mi, with a range extender.

However, this plan has a big caveat.

In a post-apocalyptic setting, the only way to charge a Tesla is through solar energy or a generator.

Solar-powered Tesla Cybertruck vs the Apocalypse

Elon Musk had previously promised to add a solar roof option to the EV truck.

The solar roof would add 15 miles of range per day.

So hopefully, we will soon see that added to the long list of Cybertruck accessories.

But depending on the weather, you will still need days or even weeks to recharge the vehicle from zero to a hundred.
