As electric car owners continue to find ways of squeezing extra miles into their journey, this Tesla Model 3 driver discovered an incredible EV battery hack that saw his car recharge significantly while on the road.

Even though the fresh-off-the-line electric vehicles are coming with ranges that continue to grow, owners are never quite satisfied.

Chasing the sunset, one kilowatt after another, the less time spent charging your car, the better.

So, in a bid to get the most out of their single charge, this Tesla Model 3 driver showcased how they replenished nearly 10 percent of battery power while ‘driving’ for miles.

Tesla Model 3 driver gains eight percent power in downhill EV battery hack

While Tesla has done a great job in creating long-range cars that are an ‘absolute dream’ over long journeys, there’s always room for a little more power.

In their efforts to get more range in a single-charge journey, one man has found that ‘driving’, or falling with style, downhill has managed to earn him eight percent battery at the end of his descent.

Taking to Reddit, the 2024 Tesla Model 3 Long-Range Highland owner revealed that in a downward drive of over 6,000 feet, the car earned eight percent battery, using its regenerative braking power to constantly charge.

He was even operating at -4.9kWh.

“Nothing better than recharging when going downhill,” the Redditor said.

Others found similar results when descending from mountainous areas.

“I just went to the top of Pikes in Colorado (14115 feet elevation). Was at 37 percent at the top, and by the time I was at the bottom at 48 percent,” one comment read.

“Went skiing in my Model 3. Started at 30 percent and showed up at the lodge with 11 percent. Returned home with 11 percent,” another added.

Tesla owners continue to find ways of squeezing out more battery juice

We’ve seen EV owners try more and more wacky methods of charging their cars on the roads, most of them taking advantage of the advanced tech in Tesla cars.

Recently, YouTubers found that they could generate more power in a Tesla car by towing it around with a Ford F-150 Raptor than the Raptor used itself.

Others have tried to take advantage of roof-mounted solar panels to consistently create more energy on the road.

But this downhill EV battery hack stands out as the most efficient way yet; you just need a slope long enough to take advantage of it.
