Tesla has launched their highly anticipated electric Giga Train in Germany.

The Train takes passengers from Erkner Station, located in the state of Brandenburg, to Tesla Sud.

The latter is a station located at their German manufacturing facility, approximately 20 miles southeast of the capital Berlin.

Currently, 500 passengers can travel onboard, with 120 seats available and enough space for bikes.

Riding the train never looked this good before

Not only is the train eco-friendly on account of it being battery powered, it’s free to ride.

Not just for Tesla employees, but for regular everyday people.

The train is planned to carry 4,500 employees to and from the Tesla factory, based on three eight-hour shifts.

Theresa Eggler, a Tesla project manager, told German media outlet rbb24: “We are particularly pleased that the Tesla train shuttle is now battery-electric because it is simply in line with our company mission: to accelerate the transition to renewable energies.”

Eggler estimated that the train would save 50 tons of carbon dioxide compared to other trains.

The Train isn’t built by Tesla and is operated by Niederbarnimer Eisenbahngesellschaft (NEB).

Tesla continues to expand

Obviously Tesla is best known for their cars, which have become renowned the world over.

But they continue to expand with new innovations, and trains appears to be the next frontier.

The company initially drew some criticism for cutting down trees to built the Gigafactory, but they invested in a program to plant over one million trees to make up for it.

For all we know, Gigatrains could be the way of the future.

Tesla, and boss Elon Musk, has always been very future minded.

Musk recently announced that the company would begin production of humanoid robots within the next year.

The plan is that these robots would be deployed to other companies as part of a new workforce.

With Tesla making a mark on the road, on the railways, and even in space, there’s no telling what the company will do next.
