A YouTuber who goes by Rich Rebuilds managed to ‘unlock’ the true potential of his Tesla Model 3.
The Model 3 isn’t exactly a slow car, but Rich wanted more, so he came up with a plan.
The YouTuber hacked his car, and basically instructed its electric ‘brain’ to generate more power.
It worked, and the car is now faster than before.

How Rich Rebuilds hacked his Tesla Model 3 to make it faster
In his video, Rich Rebuilds – real name Rich Benoit – explained how electric cars can sometimes be more difficult to modify than gas cars.
With gas cars, you can change a lot of mechanical, physical components, and you can also work on the car’s ECU, Engine Control Unit.
It’s a relatively straightforward process.
By contrast, with EVs, you often can’t do much until the car company, Tesla in this case, releases relevant updates.
As standard, Rich’s Model 3 does 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
With help from Electrified Garage and Engine X, Rich was able to bring that down to 3.8 seconds, and then 3.2 seconds.
Cars are defined by software
Cars used to be defined by their engines or mechanical features, but that’s no longer the case.
The electric Ford Mustang Mach-E (below), just a random example, has a lot more in common with the device you’re using to read this than it does with a Ford Mustang from the 1960s.
This probably explains why so many brands that have been around forever while struggling, while tech brands are now making cars.
As we all know, Apple gave up on its idea to build a car, but some of its rivals did the exact opposite thing.
Xiaomi unveiled a new car with a surprisingly great interior, and it’s apparently so good even the CEO of Ford loves it.
Then there’s Huawei.
Huawei is still selling smartphones (albeit not in Europe and the US, ed.) but now the company is also making cars, including a luxury sedan which – the company says – can rival Rolls-Royce.
