This Auto Shift feature on the Tesla Model 3 might just be the next best thing.

The feature, which is still being tested, automatically shifts between drive, reverse and park without you having to do anything.

How? It makes a decision based on its surroundings.

But there are of course some caveats.

Tesla Model 3 Auto Shift feature makes driving easy

Auto Shift, which is in Beta, will assist with things like multiple-point-turning and reverse parking.

All you need to do is enable Auto Shift and step on the brake.

The car will then decide which gear to select and which direction to go in.

But of course, you’ll need to check a few things before the car will take off.

The brand is all about the future of driving

Your doors and trunk need to be shut (that’s standard), but your seat belt will also need to be fastened before the car takes off (there’s no side-stepping this one).

In a TikTok video (above) shared by Tesla Flex, a Tesla owner demonstrated how it worked.

While a lot of viewers were left impressed by the feature, some weren’t.

“All of Tesla’s ‘features’ take the fun out of driving,” one person said.

“You feel so disconnected from the machine when everything is done on a screen.”

But don’t worry, if you choose to use this feature but don’t feel entirely in control, there is a way to override it.

To override it, you just need to press the brake pedal and use the drive mode strip on the touchscreen to manually shift the drive mode yourself.

Auto Shift is just one of many features the automaker is currently working to deliver, including Tesla’s Drive-by-wire technology.
