The Tesla Model S Plaid has become the king of the drag race.

America’s premier EV brand has become a nightmare for traditional drag race stars.

A recent video has seen the Model S Plaid take on the Dodge Demon 170.

And it has managed to record a 9-second quarter-mile time.

By now, you’re probably very familiar with the Tesla Model S Plaid.

This high-performance variant of the Model S delivers truly incredible performance.

The 1,020HP variant, in particular, can accelerate from 0-60MPH in 1.99 seconds.

These numbers make the Model S Plaid a natural weapon of choice for the drag strip.

Traditional ICE-powered drag beasts have been struggling to deal with the Model S Plaid.

And now, one of the icons of the drag strip is back to take another swing.

As you probably know, the YouTube channel DragTimes is the go-to source for all things drag racing.

Brooks Wiesblat is the man behind the epic face-offs on the track.

His latest video brings us back, once more, to the Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida.

And today’s story features a rematch between the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Dodge Demon 170.

As usual, the guys take each car down the strip to do some practice runs while also running the numbers.

This Dodge Demon 170 is powered by the mammoth, 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 engine.

It totals up to a whopping 1,025HP, as well as 4,280LB-FT of torque.

Standing across the ring, of course, is the Tesla Model S Plaid, which comes with the Track Pack.

Its three electric motors produce the combined power output of 1,020HP.

It also comes with 4,833Lb-FT of torque, as well as an All-Wheel Drive system to put the power down.

The guys lined up at the start line for the first drag race.

And the Dodge Demon 170 wheelied off the line, producing one hell of a noise in the process.

The Tesla got a good start as well, and started slowly reeling the Dodge Demon in…

But it wasn’t enough – the Dodge Demon 170 clearly wins the first run down the track.

Brooks and his friend then take a second run to see if there’s any difference.

This time, the Tesla got a much better launch off the line, whilst the Dodge had a bit of a messy launch.

The Model S Plaid managed to put up consistent times in the 9.2s range.

But the Dodge Demon 170 is extremely impressive in its own right.
