This incredible viral video showed off the surprising off-roading ability of a Tesla Model Y being raced against two Jeeps in a hilly area.
When you’re looking for good off-roading ability, you wouldn’t necessarily look to Tesla, maybe for the Cybertruck, but certainly not the Tesla Model Y.
The crazy thing is that the Tesla Model Y is actually faster and more consistent over the peaks and troughs of the hilly terrain.
This surprising revelation begs the question, do off-roaders really need all-terrain accessories when the EV handles this terrain absolutely fine?

The Tesla Model Y is not renowned for its off-roading ability
The video below, which has recently gone viral on X, shows a Tesla Model Y leaving two Jeep off-roaders in the dust, taking on extremely hilly terrain.
When you’re looking for a car with in incredible off-roading ability, you might not think of the Tesla Model Y.
Maybe if you were trying to handle tough terrain, you might choose a Cybertruck. But this Tesla Model Y has been blowing minds.
It’s no surprise the video went viral because it seems almost too weird to believe.
Especially as not only does the EV do really well, it leaves the two Jeeps it’s racing in the dust.

The jeeps need to put on a better show
Teslas are generally seen as the best of the best in the EV category when it comes to battery capacity and range. But who knew they were reliable as off-roaders too?
It’s a bit embarrassing for the Jeeps, though. They’re built exactly for the purpose, and they trailed far behind the EV.
There’s no doubt that it was an impressive show from the Tesla. But it does make us wonder if we even need off-roaders for all-terrains after this?
