The long-awaited Tesla Roadster finally has a release date.
Or maybe we should say launch date since this is a car, and not a movie.
But even though it isn’t a movie, it’s certainly been a saga.
It’s been almost 10 years but, finally, we’re about to see ‘most mind-blowing product demo of all time.’

Elon Musk ended up giving some pretty juicy details and quotes about the Tesla Roadster to Don Lemon back in 2024.
Musk and the former CNN commentator are not exactly politically aligned, and this interview was actually a one-off because Don Lemon was supposed to have his own ‘TV show’ on X but clearly they had a fallout after and it never happened.
Still, that interview was very important because it confirmed the collaboration between Tesla and SpaceX, and it gave us some pretty epic quotes.
“It will be the most mind-blowing product demo of all time,” Musk said.
He also added that it would include ‘rockety stuff’ and it would feature something that had never been done before.
Over two years later, we may know why, and that was probably the cause of the delay.
The SpaceX and Tesla collab is the reason behind the delay
There are several reasons why the Tesla Roadster has been delayed so many times, and this collaboration with SpaceX is probably one of the main ones.
Rumor has it the Tesla Roadster will feature the SpaceX Package, which will include cold thrusters (first mentioned by Musk around eight-nine years ago) that will serve a dual function.
First, they could allow the car to briefly ‘hover,’ and second, they will dramatically boost performance, such as acceleration and cornering.
That’s probably what Musk meant when he talked about ‘rockety’ stuff.

If everything goes to plan, the Roadster will be unveiled on October 1.
However, initial deliveries are not expected until at least 2027.
It’ll also be interesting to see the price tag, which, we presume, will be very, very hefty.
