The Tesla Robotaxi app seems to be going from strength to strength.

Last week saw the American EV brand officially launch the app for its new Robotaxi service.

And it seems to have struck a chord with the masses, garnering over 2 million downloads.

It has been so popular, in fact, that it has beaten Uber and Waymo by a considerable distance.

Tesla Robotaxi app revealed – and it is popular

Tesla made a massive release towards the back-end of last week.

America’s premier EV marque has been the subject of interesting rumors for a while.

It had been suggested that a standalone app for its Robotaxi service was on its way.

Up until now, Robotaxi services have been an integrated part of the official Tesla mobile app.

And those rumors have been proven to be true, with the EV brand rushing out a new, standalone ride application.

It seems that the main aim of this new app is to simplify the process for users.

The current Tesla vehicle app can be a complicated process for even the most seasoned of users.

So having a dedicated place will hopefully make the ride-hailing service much easier for brand owners.

Having a standalone Robotaxi app will also allow the EV brand to address bugs and issues in an isolated environment.

And what is even more impressive is just how popular it’s proven to be.

Despite being solely available via Apple, it already has over 2 million downloads.

That level of popularity is already beating rivals Uber and Waymo – and by some distance, too.

Could the new service revive Tesla’s popularity?

For the last couple of years, Tesla’s Robotaxi service has been touted as the brand’s next step.

It has been developed and worked as the future of ride-hailing and local transportation.

As a matter of fact, it might surprise you to learn how long the concept has been around.

CEO Elon Musk first touted the idea of an autonomous ride-hailing service back in 2016.

The first official timeline was offered back in 2019, with Musk predicting that one million Robotaxis would be on the road the following year.

Fast-forward to 2025, and the Robotaxi is just now being unveiled, albeit in a limited capacity.

What do you think of the Tesla Robotaxi service, as well as its popularity?

Would you be tempted to try the new service if it were available to you?
