This Texas man received a last-minute phone call to rescue some muscle cars that meant a lot to him.

However, for Dennis Collins, there was no time to think it over.

He was in Dallas, Texas, and would have to make it to Amarillo with a truck and trailer by morning.

What would they find at the end of this 400-mile drive westward?

There’s a famous saying in the United States: Everything’s bigger in Texas.

Things in the state are big and bold – the hats, the hair, and the attitude.

Not to mention the vast landscape.

And one aspect of the Texan culture we can’t help but love is their passion for cars.

No one demonstrates that better than YouTuber Dennis Collins.

He previously headed out to San Francisco to pick up a mystery Ferrari roadster.

And he also acquired nine Chevy Corvettes in one go from a South Texas farm.

This time around, though, he was taking on a job at much shorter notice.

One evening, he received a call about some muscle cars that needed picking up.

That’s pretty standard, but here’s the catch – they needed to picked up the following morning, in a town which was 400 miles away.

There were three cars up for grabs – a 1966 Porsche 912, a 1968 Dodge Charger 318 V8, and a 1969 Dodge Charger 383 V8 4V 4-speed.

The long and short of it was that Dennis had been trying to buy the cars for a while, but the owner was reluctant to let them go.

But he’d made some inroads with the owner’s son.

It was the son who called him up, as other prospective buyers were sniffing around.

Hence why he needed to be in Amarillo ASAP.

The Porsche 912 had been parked since 1975 and didn’t look too bad from the outside – certainly better than the interior.

However, it had a Volkswagen motor on the inside.

“Looks like I just paid a whole lot of money for a 912 with a Volkswagen motor,” he lamented.

“That’s what I get for not looking.

“I’ll go look at his warehouse to see if there’s a Porsche motor.”

How were the two Dodge Chargers looking?

Considering they’d also been sitting stationary since 1975, they looked understandably aged.

At any rate, Dennis was happy to be saving them and giving them a second chance.

“68, 69 chargers…they need to be back on the streets, they are beautiful,” he said.
