Texas residents have been taken aback by a new neighborhood that is now secretly charging them just to drive out of it.
A report from KHOU 11 has stated that a secret charge at Creekland Village in Cypress, Texas, has stunned the residents who live there.
With just a single highway in and out of the area, you probably would not expect to be charged for the privilege of leaving home to go to work, or coming home after a long day.
Sadly, and shockingly, that appears to be what has happened to these residents.

Why have Texas residents become so upset?
The neighborhood in question, Creekland Village, is a relatively new one, located in Cypress.
There is just one way to drive in and out, which is via State Highway 99, also known as the Grand Parkway.
It is located around the greater Houston area, which has seen a lot of expansion in recent years.
Usually, frontage roads would allow residents to enter and exit these residential areas.

But Creekland is lacking one, meaning the highway is the only way in or out of the area.
The highway itself is a toll road, but this is something residents claim was never mentioned to them.
In fact, a listing for homes for sale in the village hypes up the location.

Residents don’t like paying just to leave home or return
The website that lists these homes is Century Communities.
“Nestled in one of the Houston area’s fastest-growing corridors – near U.S. 290 – Creekland Village at Bridgeland offers an easy commute to regional employment and entertainment hotspots,” it says.
So, as far as potential residents see, this is an ideal place to live if you commute to a workplace nearby.
Yet even though the toll-free road of US 290 is just two miles away, there is no access to it from Creekland.
People living here were even more surprised because there was no charge at all initially.
Now, these Texas residents are being charged 56 cents each time they leave and enter the area.
While that is not a lot on its own, if you enter or leave multiple times a day or week, it will add up.
Thankfully, it appears that the county commissioner is working to address the concerns of residents.
Hopefully, a solution will be worked out, so going out won’t mean getting their wallet out.
