The Last of Us TV series has finally premiered on HBO and fans are hooked.
Based on the video game of the same name, The Last of Us focuses on Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) and his fight for survival in a post-apocalyptic world.

The plot follows Joel as he tries to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey) out of a quarantine zone in post-pandemic United States.
Unlike in the games, where Joel develops near-superhuman abilities, the character is more vulnerable in the TV show, making the story even more compelling.

So what is The Last of Us about?
In 2003, a virus outbreak begins turning people into zombie-like creatures.
Twenty years later, humanity has been nearly wiped out and survivors live in giant quarantine zones.
And yes, HBO decided to wait for this year to release a show set in a ‘post-pandemic world in 2023′.
The irony is not lost on us.
The Last of Us is just the latest record-breaking weapon in Naughty Dog’s arsenal after Crash Bandicoot and Uncharted.
HBO greenlit a TV series based on the video game in late 2020 and filming took nearly two years.
But it was definitely worth it.
This is what people are saying:
Right after the premiere, fans began flooding Twitter with positive comments.
Brandon Hunt, creative director at Layer Media, praised HBO for making a captivating show even for fans of the series who already know what’s going to happen.
He tweeted: “How the f**k is The Last of Us still so nerve-wrecking and I know this story back and forth?”
Others praised the series’ attention to detail.
In this collage shared by Joesttaylors on Twitter, you can see that the protagonist Joel is wearing the same t-shirt, same watch and even the same facial expression.
Kudos to Pedro Pascal for that.
The first episode of The Last of Us TV series aired on HBO on January 15, 2023.
Episode II, titled “Infected”, will be released on January 22, 2023.
