Ahead of its release, a Tesla Cybertruck was spotted wrapped up like a pig-in-blanket with a Ford-F150 bacon layer, but the mystery in this cracker remains unsolved.

The Cybertruck was one of the most anticipated cars to ever launch as this groundbreaking EV was set to revolutionize how technology can assist driving.

As it was still getting some finishing touches in the lab, the marketing team let slip one prototype that was wrapped as a Ford-150.

But, a year later the mystery remains unsolved.

The story of a mysterious Tesla Cybertruck wrapped as a Ford F150

The Tesla Cybertruck and Ford F150 are two of the most iconic pickups in America, and while they are polar opposites in terms of design, they are much more alike than you would care to imagine.

This was why fans found it interesting that an F150-inspired Tesla was spotted in California.

The amusing wrap was spotted being carted down a freeway in Livermore back in July 2023 and did the rounds on social media.

At first glance, this looks much like a F150 but the unmistakable straight-cut wheel arches and the tonneau cover give away its true identity.

But this vehicle vanished from existence after its original sighting and served as nothing but a strange crossover spotted in the wild.

The mystery is still unsolved

More than a year down the line this fierce mashup has never been seen again. Nothing as much as an appearance on a marketing campaign or a cameo in an online poster. Nada.

Of course, it’s worth remembering that this was a pre-release model too, meaning it’s not a custom mod by a fan and must be owned by Tesla themselves.

Neither party, Ford or Tesla, has commented on this collaboration between the iconic pick-up rivals.

Most theorize that it must have been set for a marketing video or an advert of some sort, but the concept was likely never given the green light and will be lost to the archives forever.

Others think that it was a disguise to give the Tesla Cybertruck a run out on the roads without attracting the attention that its design usually draws.

Alas, we’ll probably never know.

Tesla’s pre-release antics have continued with the Model Y Juniper range too, as prototypes have been cropping up with camouflaged wraps on the front and rear to hide what is underneath.
