These three Bugatti Bolides were spotted sliding across the ice in Switzerland.

Usually, such an incredible armada of hypercars would be a major headline in itself.

But the $12,000,000 Bolides themselves aren’t actually the main shock.

Instead, it’s the point that they managed to prove that’s cause for amazement.

Switzerland sees three Bugatti Bolides take to the ice

St. Moritz is a place that is home to everything luxury.

The premier Swiss skiing resort can be found in the Engadin valley.

But snow and mountains are not all that was recently seen in St. Moritz, as it recently hosted the ICE Concours d’Elegance.

And accompanying skiers and holidaymakers were not one, not two, but three Bugatti Bolides.

As you can likely understand, seeing such a collection of hypercars in one place is rare enough.

But seeing three track-only Bolides cutting shapes through the ice is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Bolide cannot be driven or registered on public roads.

This makes the 40-unit Bolide a track-only weapon for the elite of the elite.

The legendary 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 produces a staggering 1,578hp.

These Bolides are built around a carbon fiber monocoque, built to FIA safety standards.

It was purposefully developed in partnership with racing car company Dallara to meet these stringent requirements.

Hypercars prove an important point

No one actually knows who was behind the wheel of these Bugatti Bolides.

But seeing three of these machines being fired around the ice is a sight to behold.

What you are looking at is, in essence, $12,000,000 on wheels.

So what was the important point that these Bolides managed to prove?

Well, the Bolide wasn’t designed with any built-in radiator fans in order to save weight.

This means that the hypercar requires immediate movement in order to cool that mammoth W16 powerplant.

These three units appeared to have no issues with cooling on the ice.

Perhaps the absence of internal radiator fans was a truly inspired choice after all.
