These incredible, out-of-the-ordinary tires cost even more than a brand-new car.

We all know that owning a car is becoming increasingly expensive, with new owners having to factor in the cost of not only buying the vehicle, but also maintaining it.

Some of the world’s most expensive tires cost from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

And, for the price of these pieces of rubber, you could buy yourself a new top-of-the-range car.

These tires are so expensive they cost more than a brand-new car

When it comes to kitting out cars and trucks, the right tires must be selected and installed to make sure the vehicle runs smoothly.

Sometimes, though, the large pieces of rubber can cost an eye-watering amount, so much so that it would hurt your bank account less if you just bought a brand-new car.

Take, for example, the Michelin XDR 59/80R63 tires reportedly cost a huge sum of $59,000 each and are used by the Caterpillar 797F mining truck, which is a beast.

The tire is ‘the most productive Rigid dump truck tire on the market’. This means they ‘can haul more, faster than ever before’, explained Michelin itself.

But that’s not where the expensive tires end.

For tasks that require heavy-duty grips and power, the Firestone 70/70-57 Super Rock Grip tires lend themselves perfectly, but the price for this to happen is huge.

The tires reportedly range from a top price of $167,000 all the way down to $120,000, and for that price, they boast an ‘extra-deep tread design’ and ‘exceptional off-road traction’.

For aviation fans, the tires on the F/A-18 Super Hornet Navy fighter jet do a mighty fine job of helping the plane reach high speeds. But, according to reports, the Navy paid a whopping $100,000 to replace them on the jet.

Flashy tires that are fit just for show exist too, with diamonds and gold in them – talk about luxury.

Tires are an important element when it comes to hitting the road

Let’s face it – the two main things that you need to drive a car safely and effectively are a working engine and tires.

But, like any car element, these can often hurt your bank account when the time comes to replace, customize, or even upgrade them.

For example, the Sultan of Brunei’s 1-of-3 converted Lamborghini LM002 wagon needs tires that cost $54,000.

Although many people just opt for average tires to get from A to B, some even go the extra mile and use other tires to really explore the roads and terrain around them.

For example, who could forget the Mustang that used oversized tires and lashings of horsepower to transform it into a MUDstang that climbed hills.

Would you pay thousands of bucks for tires or buy a new daily driver instead?
