Somebody raced a Toyota 2JZ-swapped Dodge Challenger Hellcat against a twin-turbo Challenger around Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania, and the result was interesting.
We should probably start by saying that these cars are far, far from stock.
But then again these pony cars are born for this sort of thing.
In the end, there could only be one winner.

Which Dodge Challenger came out on top?
Two Dodge Challenger owners raced their pony cars around Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.
One of these Challengers was powered by a straight-six 2JZ engine built by Toyota, while the other was powered by a ‘regular’ Hemi V8, which was modified with two turbos.
We said ‘around’ the racetrack, but actually this was a classic drag race, which means they only used the straight section of this 2.5-mile oval.

As you can see in the video posted by Import Race on YouTube, domestic power went home with a two for two win.
In the first run, the twin-turbo Challenger surged ahead and hit 160MPH, with the Toyota-powered Dodge trailing behind.
The second run created a copy-paste situation, with the Hellcat hitting 159MPH, while the Toyota 2JZ-powered Dodge could only managed 150MPH.

This is what the Challenger was built for
The Dodge Challenger was built for this sort of thing.
V8 noise, and drag races.
That’s what most pony cars are all about.
And they’re usually quite ‘cheap’.
The R/T model, for example, was a $40,000 car when it was new.

Even the ultra-powerful, ultra-torquey Demon 170 had an MSRP under $100,000, which is impressive for a car that can beat the Nevera in a drag race.
As for the Hellcat, the car featured in this drag race, that used to be about $70,000 when it was new.
Not a bad deal considering you get 700+ horsepower in return.
