Toyota Hilux GR Sport shows off its unreal power and strength by driving alongside Toyota Corolla Altis to block it from heavy floodwaters

This Toyota Hilux GR Sport got to show off its incredible power by aiding a Toyota Corolla Altis during extreme weather.

A video has been doing the rounds on social media, in which the two vehicles were shown entering heavy floodwater.

But the GR Sport rose to the occasion, keeping its car companion safe from the rage of the water.

It was a remarkable demonstration of power.

Cars and water usually don’t go well together

When you think of ideal driving conditions, water tends to be far away from those scenarios.

That is, unless you have a specially modified water car like Shaquille O’Neal.

But generally speaking, water and cars tend to be a bad combination.

Whether it’s stranded on the shore or submerged underwater, automotives tend not to fare well with water.

So that makes it all the more impressive to see this Toyota Hilux GR in action.

This Toyota Hilux GR Sport shielded a Toyota Corolla Altis from floodwaters

In a video that’s been doing the rounds online, a Toyota Hilux GR Sport is seen entering a rapidly moving river, with a Toyota Corolla Altis by its side.

If these weren’t cars, you would have been forgiven for thinking this was a mother protecting her young.

That’s exactly how this scenario played out.

As the two vehicles crossed the stream, the extreme floodwaters battered the side of the Hilux – but barely affected the car behind it.

We can’t help but wonder how things would have played out if the truck hadn’t been there, but we also don’t think we’d want to know.

People in the comments were highly impressed with this display.

“Only Toyota can do this,” one fan wrote.

“It’s natural for big bro to take care of his little bro,” another said.

“Disclaimer: Don’t try if you don’t own a Toyota!!” a third person joked.

Suffice to say, nobody should be recklessly driving into floodwaters to see how their cars fare.

That’s one ‘Don’t try this at home’ warning that doesn’t need expanding upon.

Why isn’t this formidable truck sold in the US?

Despite its formidable nature, the Hilux is not available in the US.

Older Hiluxes may be available to be imported thanks to the 25-year rule, but official models aren’t likely to go on sale any time soon.

This is largely due to the Chicken Tax, that being a tariff of 25 percent on light-duty trucks imported from across the Atlantic.

Why is it called the Chicken Tax?

Because Lyndon B. Johnson enacted it in 1964 in retaliation for European countries imposing a tax on chicken being shipped over from the US.

There’s your history lesson for the day.

The tariff remains in place to do this day, making it tough for the Hilux to be imported into and sold in the US.

To think that all this trouble started over chicken imports back in the 1960s.
