What have we learned about this mysterious Toyota?

After all the buzz about this new car, you might have expected Toyota to rip the bandaid off and do the big reveal.

But ever the masterful publicist, the manufacturer has shared a new teaser image, taken from the rear of the vehicle’s cabin.

The shot gives viewers a look towards the front of the vehicle.

In its original form, the image is shadowy and obscured, leaving some things to your own imagination.

But in a lightened up shot – as shown over on Car And Driver – much more comes to light, literally.

In the foreground of the lightened up shot, a third row of seats becomes visible, providing proof that this new vehicle is an SUV and not a truck.

What else did we see in this image?

Well, we get a pretty good look at the dashboard, with a horizontally oriented touchscreen on full display.

How often is it we know what the inside of a vehicle looks like before we know its name?

At any rate, Toyota is doing a great job at keeping us on our toes and waiting eagerly for more.

Car brands know how to build anticipation

It’s a tale as old as time – car brands teasing out shots of their new cars to get people’s attention.

Donkervoort did it recently when it teased the P24 RS supercar ahead of its big reveal – after three years of waiting.

Some images give away more than others.

For the successor to the Lamborghini Huracán, a shot of its taillight was all people needed to get excited.
